NIKKI AVRON - DIRECTOR
Clinical Pilates Teacher & Manual Therapist
Nikki was a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer whose 8 year vocational dance training began at the Royal Ballet School at the age of 11. Her extensive dance career took her all over the world and included a year’s contract with the Israeli Contemporary Dance Company.
A passion for teaching dance and movement began back in 1998 and lead to the development of Aviv Dance Studios, two Hertfordshire-based dance schools and a performing company, which Nikki founded in 2002 with the support of The Prince’s Trust. Nikki eventually handed over her dance company to new management in 2013 before setting up Encore Pilates on Kings Langley High Street.
Nikki was first properly introduced to Pilates after the birth of her twins in 2005 when choosing corrective exercise rather than surgery to repair an extreme case of diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles) due to her large twin pregnancy.
In 2011 Nikki gained her first Pilates qualification in Matwork with STOTT Pilates – one of the world’s most recognised Pilates schools, headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Nikki went on to gain their fully comprehensive certification including Injuries & Special Populations.
Nikki’s passion and dedication for corrective exercise, women’s health, rehabilitation and sports performance, inspires her to stay fully informed in the continually evolving world of physical therapy and biomechanics. Nikki has completed CPD courses that include Pre- and Post-Natal Pilates, Myofascial Release, Spinal Pathologies, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Long Term Medical Conditions and Biomechanics of the Hip, Knee and Shoulder. She also has a very keen interest in the neuroscience behind chronic pain, and is experienced working with those with neurological conditions. Nikki has most recently completed a Level 5 BTEC in Sports & Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy.
When Nikki isn’t busy with the studio or study she enjoys hiking, weight training and spending time with her 2 grown up daughters and their Cockapoo.
