PREGNANCY - REFORMER

This specialist class is open only to pregnant women in their second or third trimester (from after their 12 week scan). The use of the Reformers provides a particularly supportive type of workout.

During pregnancy a woman’s centre of gravity shifts, due to natural weight gain, change to the shape of her pelvis, and increase in breast size; all of these changes can affect her posture, resulting in increased tension in the muscles and joints. The release of the pregnancy hormone ‘relaxin’ also contributes to changes in the body, affecting the elasticity of the joints and ligaments. This elasticity can make the pelvis unstable, so it’s important to strengthen and stabilise this area with the right kind of exercises, and be guided by an appropriately qualified teacher.

Overall, taking regular Pilates at this very special time of a woman’s life will give both her mind and body control and confidence to move freely and safely.

Classes are limited to no more than 6 women to 6 Reformers. Previous Pilates experience is not needed. However, new clients are advised to first complete a private Newcomer Introductory session if you are not familiar with using our Reformers or have any pre-natal concerns.
